Tungum Tube on Diving Support Vessels
Wednesday 15th April 2009
Sealion Shipping Ltd was incorporated in 1975 and extended it’s activity into supporting the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry in 1982. Sealion’s principal activity is now the worldwide management and operation of the Toisa Offshore Vessel Fleet, carried out from their offices in Farnham UK. This activity encompasses the full range of 25 various types of sophisticated Offshore Vessels with a further 10 under construction.
A recent addition to the fleet was the Toisa Paladin (Hull 318) which is a Large IRM Class Saturation DSV (Class DNV) with an 18 man capacity Dive System.
Tungum tubing was specified for the Dive and Oxygen systems, Gas transfer piping, Gas storage and distribution systems and breathing systems. Project Engineer, Joey Fisher stressed that safety issues related to oxygen use are of the highest priority and the good history, track record and well proven performance in these applications were the reasons behind Tungum being specified. Information available from the Tungum literature was of great assistance in the writing of the working procedures and the well known workability of Tungum ensured no problems during installation.
