The team at Tungum Ltd. are celebrating 75 years of business this year at its facility in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The company was formed in 1933 and R. Ayshford Sanford was one of the founders. Today, it is owned by the second generation of Sanfords consisting of three brothers, Paul, Michael and David. Ian Johnstone was appointed Managing Director in 2005 after 10 years of service as Financial Controller. The world famous 'Tungum Alloy' is its primary product, an alpha brass that is used in the most hostile of environments. Oil and gas production, MoD fighting vehicles, nuclear power and marine hydraulic pipework are a just a few of the industrial sectors where Tungum tube is still outperforming the competition. Tungum has excellent strength to weight ratio, good fatigue properties and exceptional corrosion resistance. To complement the Tungum tube, Tungum Ltd. also supplies a range of Silver solder fittings called the 'PG' range which feature Tungum alloy in their construction.
Tungum offers tube manipulation and pipework fabrication in a wide variety of materials. The firm has the very latest in pipe manipulation machinery and software that allows the customer to have complete confidence in quality items being produced every single time. Extensive CNC machining capabilities enable the manufacture of associated components to compliment pipework systems produced. Tungum has an equipment sourcing division that allows customers to purchase equipment directly from them. This takes away the complicated process of searching for replacement components.

Tungum has been in business for three quarters of a Century and has seen many changes and alterations in both the economy and its markets. Throughout many changes of the years the company has been supported by its loyal and dedicated workforce. The current team of 50 is extremely flexible and fully focused on achieving the company's goals. Several staff have recently completed NVQ's with more staff signing up for new courses currently. All three Directors participate in an executive training forum.
